Fall Ball Sunday at Duke

The Commodore lacrosse team will head to Durham, N.C., this weekend for its final Fall Ball tournament of 2011. During Sunday’s Duke Fall Invitational, Vanderbilt will face off against High Point, the host Blue Devils and William & Mary.

Field assignments have yet to be made, but games are scheduled to take place at the fields adjacent to Koskinen Stadium. Parking information is available at GoDuke.com.

Carey and FalconeStars and Stripes Weekend

Senior Ally Carey and Assistant Coach Amber Falcone were a part of Team USA for Stars & Stripes Weekend, Oct. 8-9 in Raleigh, N.C.

Appearing with Team USA for the first time, Carey played for the White Team. Her squad defeated North Carolina, 13-7, on Saturday and beat Navy, 14-7, on Sunday. Carey contributed a team-high two assists in Saturday’s victory over the Tar Heels and scored a goal in Sunday’s win over the Mids.

Falcone, who was named the best defender at the 2009 Women’s Lacrosse World Cup, played for the Blue Team. Her squad defeated UNC, 17-8, and Navy, 22-3.

Spring Schedule Coming Together

The Commodores’ 2012 schedule is coming together, with one date left to be added before an official release is made. Spring practice will begin on Thursday, Jan. 19, with the Commodores heading to the South of the Border exhibition tournament on Sunday, Feb. 5, in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Vanderbilt is scheduled to host American Lacrosse Conference rivals Penn State (March 18), Johns Hopkins (April 1) and Ohio State (April 8) this season while traveling to Northwestern (March 23) and Florida (April 14).

VU’s other confirmed home dates are March 7 vs. Boston College, March 14 vs. Louisville, April 4 vs. Presbyterian and April 20 vs. Jacksonville. The Commodores also are slated to travel to North Carolina, Stanford, Canisius, New Hampshire and Notre Dame.
