EVANSTON, Illinois – The No. 8 Commodore lacrosse team (11-4, 4-1) fell to the No. 2 Northwestern Wildcats (13-1, 4-0) on Saturday at Lakeside Field, 27-9. The loss breaks Vanderbilt’s school-record ten game winning streak.

Senior Daniell Spencer led the Wildcats with a game-high eight goals while recording six draw controls. Senior Sarah Downing and junior Katherine Denkler each had three goals for the ‘Dores.

The Wildcats never looked back after jumping out to a 7-1 lead with 21:38 remaining in the first half. The Commodores were ultimately unable to rally back from their 18-6 halftime deficit.

With her four points, Downing passed Sue Napolitano for second place on the school’s all-time points list with 222 career points.

The loss concludes the regular season for the ‘Dores, who will return to action on Friday, May 7, in Columbus, Ohio at the American Lacrosse Conference Tournament.
