In that span, the Dores’ offense regrouped. Senior Kelly Devlin gave Vanderbilt a 5-4 lead in the 42nd minute off a feed from Hickman. Vanderbilt would control the ball in their offensive end for most of the remainder of the game. An insurance goal came in the 53 minute when Peck notched her second of the match to give the Dores a 6-4 lead with only seven minutes remaining. The Commodore defense held until their was only 55 seconds on the clock. Stanford scored to get within one, but Roguski picked up her fourth draw control of the match on the ensuing faceoff to cement the 6-5 win. Vanderbilt freshman Brooke Shinaberry, making her first career start, saved six of 11 shots. To go along with her two goals and four draw controls, Roguski also scooped four ground balls and caused a pair of Cardinal turnovers.
