Dores Hits Road for First SEC Matchups

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt men’s tennis opens SEC play this weekend with road trips to Mississippi State on Friday and Ole Miss on Sunday.

No. 27 Vanderbilt kicks off conference play with a ranked matchup against the No. 8 Bulldogs at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. Mississippi State is currently 8-2 and fresh off a 4-2 victory over Oklahoma.

The Bulldogs boast a two-match winning streak and have suffered just two losses this season to TCU and Baylor.

Last season, the Commodores fell short to Mississippi State, 4-2. The Dores are eager for redemption as they take on the Bulldogs Friday.

On Sunday, the Commodores extend their road trip to Oxford, Mississippi, where they will face their second SEC opponent in Ole Miss at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

The Rebels are currently ranked 30th in the nation and feature a 7-4 record.

In its last time out, Ole Miss dropped a 4-1 decision to Arizona. But the Rebels have begun the season 4-0 at home.

In the last matchup between Vanderbilt and Ole Miss, the Commodores came out on top earning a 4-3 victory.

Coming off a doubleheader sweep over North Florida and Lipscomb, the Commodores enter this weekend’s conference matches riding a seven-match winning streak.
