Two Commodores Rank in the Top 10 of the 2018 ITA Preseason Rankings

NASHVILLE –  The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released its 2018 Collegiate Men’s Division 1 Oracle/ITA Preseason rankings which includes Commodore standouts, Cameron Klinger and Billy Rowe. The doubles pair ranks No. 4 overall in the Men’s Doubles Rankings, jumping 12 spots higher than their final ranking last season. Klinger also earned a top-10 singles ranking, coming in at No. 7 in the country.

Last season, Klinger and Rowe finished the season ranked 16th in the nation in doubles. The duo recorded 15 wins throughout the season, two of which were over top-25 opponents. The tandem also went 7-2 in SEC doubles play at the top spot of the Commodore lineup.

Klinger, who will be entering his final season with the Commodores, had a very successful 2017-18 season. Despite his injury in the final stretch of the 2016-17 season, Klinger came back strong and ready to compete in 2018 by earning 15 wins, two of which were over Top-5 ranked opponents.

Klinger also competed in the Round of 16 at the 2018 NCAA Individual Championships. In May, Klinger earned the title of 2018 singles All-American adding to his previous 2016 All-American title in doubles, which made him Vanderbilt’s youngest All-American in program history.

The Dores will kick their season off this weekend hosting the 2018 Commodore Scramble. The tournament will be held at the Curry Tennis Center. The Commodores will be competing in a combination of doubles and singles matches beginning on Friday, Sept. 14 and will play through Sunday, Sept. 16.
