VU unveils gameday enhancements

Vanderbilt fans will enjoy an enhanced gameday experience for Commodore football during the 2018 season!

A host of improved amenities inside and around Vanderbilt Stadium will await fans when the Commodores kick off the 2018 season against Middle Tennessee on Sept. 1.

Kids Zone relocated: Vanderbilt’s Kids Zone, a family-friendly spot that features inflatables, face-painting and much more, is relocating to the outfield at Hawkins Field, home of the Dores’ baseball program. For families who remain at Kids Zone after kickoff, the Commodores will stream the in-game video feed from Vanderbilt Stadium onto the video board at Hawkins Field. Kids Zone will open two hours prior to each home kickoff and close at the conclusion of haltime.

Barnes & Noble in Vandyville: Fans tailgating around West End can soon browse a new Barnes & Noble pop-up shop that will be located in Vandyville at each of Vanderbilt’s home SEC games. The shop will offer team apparel and other merchandise from the Barnes & Noble at Vanderbilt University Official Bookstore.

Concession upgrades: Inside the stadium, a revamped concession experience with several new options will await Commodore fans. Vanderbilt has added Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant, a longtime Nashville staple, with its own concession stand within the stadium concourse. The Puckett’s location will offer a variety of Southern-inspired items from its famous menu.

Among other updates to concessions:

• Pizza slices have replaced pan pizza as menu items at Papa John’s concourse locations
• A new kids meal option will include an Uncrustable PB&J sandwich, a Juice Box and Animal Crackers
• Vendors will offer kettle corn, funnel cakes and King of Pops popsicles as new items
• Fans can now purchase fountain drinks at concession stands, with bottle drinks still available at portable coolers

Vanderbilt plans to also unveil a new “$6, $5, $4” concession menu this season, which breaks down items available within a select price range. For $6, fans can purchase either a Papa John’s pizza slice, a Commodore Dog or a souvenir fountain drink. The $5 menu includes a Jumbo Dog, Dippin Dots, pretzel, popcorn or a 20 oz. bottled soft drink. For $4, Vanderbilt offers peanuts, candy, Cracker Jacks or a 20 oz. Dasani water.

Video board redesign: Fans will notice an updated video board design in the north end zone of Vanderbilt Stadium. A new layout will feature a cleaner design, with permanent placement for real-time, in-game stats. The video board will also include more frequent out-of-town scores around the Top 25 and the SEC.

Surprise in the stands: Vanderbilt fans seated in the stands will be treated to a number of in-game surprises during game action. The Commodores’ famous Spirit of Gold Marching Band will pop out and perform in different sections of the stands at Vanderbilt Stadium, while members of Vanderbilt’s athletic staff will also surprise fans in random sections with T-shirt tosses throughout each game.

Upgrade your gameday experience: This year, fans truly can become part of the Vanderbilt gameday with a variety of experience upgrades, including joining the team at Star Walk and Mr. Commodore on the field, delivering the game ball to officials at the 50-yard line, sounding the Admiral’s Horn pre-game, and having a personal message on the end-zone video board. Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. CT, click here for more details.

Hometown Heroes: The Commodores will also honor “Hometown Heroes” at each home game in 2018.
