Vanderbilt University wrapped up its third-annual Giving Day initiative on Tuesday, June 5 having raised nearly $6 million dollars from more than 7,000 donors in a period of 24 hours. The initiative is an annual event that challenges the Vanderbilt community to come together in an effort to support the university. The initiative exceeded its goal of reaching 6,300 donors and more than doubled last year’s contribution total of $2,625,644.

“What a tremendous response from the Vanderbilt community. I am so impressed with the support that our alumni and fans continue to give to our university. I would personally like to thank everyone who participated in the program this year; thanks to their efforts we are able to impact so many young lives on our campus,” said David Williams II, Vice Chancellor for Athletics & University Affairs and Athletics Director.

The National Commodore Club brought in the third-most donors of any school or area, with 587 people making gifts totaling $132,404. To learn more about the Giving Day results and watch a special thank you video, visit vu.edu/givingday.
