SADDLE BROOK, N.J. – The trip began with the team waiting over an hour in the pre-dawn for a tardy charter bus and things never really got back in sync for Vanderbilt’s bowling team.

As a result, the disappointed Commodores returned to campus Sunday evening with a sixth place finish in the New Jersey Jamboree, having split its two games earlier in the day. The Commodores began by defeating Sam Houston State 4 games to 2 in the best-of-seven Bakers, then losing the fifth-place match to Kutztown by the same score. Vandy went 7-5 over the three days.

“We have a lot to do in the few days of practice we have before our next tournament,” said Coach John Williamson. “We had a few bright spots but we took a step backwards here in both our execution and our mental approach. Once again I thought Nicole Mosesso did a nice job and Robyn (Renslow) bounced back today in our anchor position.”

Vandy’s Amanda Fry made the all-tournament team for the “Red Pool” of teams based on her 208 average in Saturday’s team games.

Stephen F. Austin won the tournament with Wisconsin-Whitewater second. Vanderbilt travels next weekend to the Crusader Invitational at Valparaiso, Indiana.
