Bowlers Go 4-0 at Cheeseland on Friday

Nov. 9, 2007

Fort Atkinson, WI—Top-ranked Vanderbilt went unbeaten in four Baker games Friday and enters the second day of the 11-team Cheeseland Invitational in third place based on total pin fall.

The Commodores dispatched host Wisconsin-Whitewater, St. Peters, Adelphi and No. 2 rated Nebraska and enter Saturday close behind Arkansas State and Fairleigh Dickinson.

“We competed better today than we did two weeks ago,” Coach John Williamson said. “Our game with Adelphi was tight and we were plagued with too many splits but we closed them out when we had to, a very good sign.”

“Once again the lane conditions were troublesome and I didn’t think we adjusted as well as we need to,” Williamson continued. “We left ourselves with a lot of splits but on the plus side, we did a pretty good job converting our spares.”

The Commodores primarily used a line-up of Michelle Peloquin, Ellen Morrison, Karen Grygiel, Tara Kane and Josie Earnest. Amanda Halter came in midway into the Nebraska game and in the bye game, Ashley Belden and Brittany Garcia joined with Halter to produce a good score.

The tournament moves to team games Saturday and Vanderbilt will play, in order, Southern, Minnesota State, Elmhurst, New Jersey City and FDU. The tournament concludes Sunday with the winning team the one with the most pins over three days.
