NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On the soccer field, Erin Myers has proven her leadership skills in the midfield for the Commodores.

Off the field, the two-year captain continues to be a valuable asset to the community. The junior was recently named to the SEC Soccer Community Service Team. The team highlights an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Myers, who has started all 58 games of her career, has been a staple in the Vanderbilt community and back in her hometown of Armonk, N.Y. She has volunteered and spent time visiting the children at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. When she returns home, she visits the Edenwald Center in Pleasantville, N.Y., to play games, make crafts and exercise with girls who have behavioral and cognitive difficulties. She went on a mission trip to Lima, Peru, where she and fellow Vanderbilt students helped paint and do construction and conducted sports clinics for local youth.

This year she plans on volunteering at a local Nashville church for their Merry Music City Christmas event and going on a mission trip with Who U With? Ministries to New York City.
