BALTIMORE – Rising senior Alex Mundy and sophomore Natalie Wills were among the 64 players chosen to advance to the second round of tryouts for the 2009-2010 U.S. women’s developmental team, US Lacrosse announced following last month’s Women’s Division National Tournament.
The event, presented by Brine and the Heather Leigh Albert Foundation, was held over Memorial Day Weekend at Cedar Lane Sports Park in Bel Air, Md., and featured more than 150 players in the Stars & Stripes Division vying for spots for the U.S. team tryout.
The second round of tryouts will be held August 1-2 at the University of Maryland – Baltimore County.
Mundy was recently named a third-team IWLCA All-American after leading the Commodores in ground balls and caused turnovers last season. Wills posted a 10-5 record as a freshman goalkeeper, making 131 saves in 2009.
The U.S. women’s national team program is gearing up for the Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup, which will be held from June 18-27 in the Czech Republic. The Commodore lacrosse team’s current European tour includes a stop in the Czech Republic as well as stays in Germany and Austria.
