LEXINGTON, Ky. – Vanderbilt’s men’s tennis team will return to the courts Thursday when the Commodores make the short drive north to play at the ITA Southeast Championships at Kentucky’s Boone Tennis Center.
The Commodores have eight singles players in the 128-person singles draw and four doubles teams in the 64-team doubles draw. The tournament will commence on Thursday with the first three rounds of doubles competition. Singles competition will start on Friday.
Competing for Vanderbilt will be senior Nick Cromydas, juniors Vijay Paul and James Moye, sophomores Bryant Salcedo, Adam Baker and Alex Zotov and freshmen Alex DiValerio and Charlie Jones.
Salcedo and DiValerio are tied for the team lead with a 5-2 record. Jones is third on the team with a 4-3 mark.
Scheduled to play doubles together are Cromydas and DiValerio, Paul and Moye, Salcedo and Jones and Zotov and Baker.
The ITA Southeast Championships is just one of nine regional ITA tournaments taking place over the next two weeks. The only two SEC programs that will not be represented at the tournament are Arkansas and South Carolina. Among the schools outside the SEC that will be represented at the tournament are Memphis, Miami, MTSU, South Florida, Troy and Western Kentucky.
