TULSA, Okla. – Vanderbilt’s men’s tennis team posted a pair of wins on Tuesday as Ryan Lipman and the doubles team of Bryant Salcedo and Vijay Paul advanced at the D’Novo/ITA All-American Tennis Championships.
Lipman, a freshman, advanced to the third round of the qualifying singles draw with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Louisville’s Viktor Maksimcuk. Lipman will now face Alex Stamchev of Auburn in the third round.
In doubles play, Salcedo and Paul advanced to the second round with a 9-7 win over Iowa’s Tommy McGeorge and Will Vasos. The duo’s run wouldn’t last long though, as they were eliminated in a tight second-round match, losing 9-8 (4) to Cal’s tandem of Jonathan Dahan and Pedro Zerbini.
Vanderbilt had four players scheduled to play in the qualifying singles consolation bracket, but the matches were cancelled due to rain.
Also competing in Tulsa will be Vanderbilt’s doubles team of Adam Baker and Alex Zotov, who are in the main doubles draw. The duo is ranked No. 12 in the country.
