MT has strong day at Bulldog Scramble

ATHENS, Ga. – Competing on the second day of the Bulldog Scramble, Vanderbilt’s men’s tennis team put together one of its top performances of the fall on Saturday at Georgia.

A day after posting three wins between singles and doubles competition, Vanderbilt doubled its win total on Saturday as Vanderbilt’s four players combined to earn six wins in singles and doubles.

The Commodores found their most success in doubles, where Vanderbilt went 4-0 Saturday after going 1-1 on Friday. Vanderbilt’s doubles duos consisted of Bryant Salcedo and Vijay Paul and Charlie Jones and Alex DiValerio.

Earning wins in singles play were Bryant Salcedo and Charlie Jones. The wins were the second of the event for Salcedo and Jones, who are now 2-1 in two days.

On Friday, the event had each player play two singles matches and a doubles match. On Saturday, each player played two doubles matches and one singles match.

The event is Vanderbilt’s second at Georgia this fall. Vanderbilt is one of four schools competing this weekend. Other teams with players competing are Georgia, Clemson and Georgia Tech.

Vanderbilt will conclude play at the Bulldog Scramble on Sunday.
