MT Falls to No. 18 Michigan, 5-2

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Vanderbilt’s 35th-ranked men’s tennis team was defeated for the first this season with a 5-2 loss at No. 18 Michigan on Sunday at the Michigan Varsity Tennis Center.

Playing its second match in two days, Vanderbilt (5-1) was able to earn its two points in singles play, as Ryan Preston and Vijay Paul earned victories in the Nos. 1 and 2 positions, respectively. Michigan (5-1) won the doubles point by winning all three matches. Michigan’s lone loss this season was to No. 1 Virginia.

Individually, Evan Dufaux and Alex Zotov each fell for the first time this spring. Also losing for the first time this spring was the doubles team of Dufaux and Adam Baker.

Vanderbilt will return to the courts on Feb. 17 to face No. 30 Wisconsin at 1 p.m.
