MT: 'Dores to compete at ITA Regional

NASHVILLE, Tenn. ­ After having a one-week layoff from competition, the Vanderbilt men’s tennis team will return to the courts on Thursday for the start of the ITA Southeast Regional in Lexington, Ky.

The penultimate tournament of Vanderbilt’s fall slate, the ITA Southeast Regional will be held indoors at three different locations and will conclude with the finals on Monday.

“We are looking to continue to improve our play this weekend as we prepare to head into the spring season,” head coach Ian Duvenhage said.

The Commodores will have eight players competing in singles play and four duos competing in doubles competition.

In singles play, senior Ryan Preston and junior Nick Cromydas will begin competition in the main draw on Friday. Senior Evan Dufaux, sophomores Scott Lieberman and Vijay Paul and freshmen Adam Baker, Bryant Salcedo and Alex Zotov will compete in the qualifying draw on Thursday.

Salcedo’s return to the court will mark his first competition since suffering an injury on the first day of the season-opening Vanderbilt Invitational.

In doubles play, the Commodores will send teams of Cromydas/Dufaux, Preston/Salcedo, Baker/Paul and Lieberman/Zotov.
