NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team defeated Furman 5-2 Tuesday afternoon at the Currey Tennis Center, marking Vanderbilt’s third consecutive win.

The No. 40 Commodores (6-4) started the match by taking the doubles point 2-1, with the clinching win from seniors Andy Mack and Jordan Magarik.

Vanderbilt followed with wins from Mack, Vijay Paul, Nathan Sachs and Nik Cromydas.

The victory marks the final non-conference contest before SEC season begins on Friday against Alabama in Nashville.

Cromydas’ straight set win over Furman’s Bo Ladyman served as the sophomore’s first clinching victory of the season.

“We didn’t come in here taking them lightly,” Cromydas said. “Furman is a really tough squad. We’ve got a lot more work to do but I’ve got confidence every single person on our team can get the job done at their position.”
