NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For the second time this season, Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia and Jordan White have been recognized by the SEC office following a Commodore football victory with the announcement Monday that the former has been selected Offensive Player of the Week and the latter has been named Offensive Lineman of the Week.
The pair received the same awards after Vandy defeated No. 10/10 LSU on Oct. 18.
Pavia and White were honored following a performance that saw the Dore offense post 544 total yards in a 45-38 overtime win over Auburn Saturday. Not only was it the most yards Vanderbilt has finished with against an SEC opponent since the 2016 season, it was the highest figure recorded against a Tiger defense this fall that hadn’t allowed more than 24 points in any of its first nine outings of the year. As a result, the Commodores defeated Auburn in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1949 and ’50.
Pavia accounted for a career-high 489 yards of total offense and four touchdowns in the contest, connecting on 25-of-33 passes for a career-best 377 yards and three scores while running for a season-high 112 yards and touchdown as well. Not only did the Albuquerque, New Mexico, native become the first player on record in program history to have 300-plus passing yards and 100-plus rushing yards in a game, it was the second most total offense yards by a Commodore since the 1996 campaign.
White received the highest overall Pro Football Focus grade on the Dores’ offensive line following the victory after the Largo, Maryland resident did not surrender a sack, or a quarterback hit, hurry or pressure on 43 pass-block snaps. It was the fourth time this fall that the center has earned a pass-block grade over 80 percent, and the second time he has graded out that high in the pass game against an SEC opponent.
It’s the third occasions this season that White has been named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, as he first received the recognition on Sept. 15 following Vandy’s win at No. 11/10 South Carolina.
After moving up to No. 13 in the Associated Press poll and No. 14 in the AFCA coaches’ rankings, Vanderbilt is off until playing host to Kentucky on Nov. 22 at FirstBank Stadium as the program celebrates Senior Day.
