Monica Buff named to Central Region Third Team as announced by Soccer Buzz Magazine 1/11/2005 Add yet another accolade to the lengthening list of honors for sophomore defender Monica Buff. Buff was recently named to the Soccer Buzz Magazine Central Region Third Team for her play during the 2004 season. The Lilburn, Ga. native started 15 of 18 matches for the Dores, while logging over 1300 minutes in the Commodore defense. “Monica had a tremendous year from the minute she stepped on the field. She was an integral part of our success and conference run, “said Vanderbilt women’s Head Coach Ronnie Coveleskie Hill. “She is one of the most consistent and hard working players we have in our program. Monica leads not only through example but in her dedication to the game as well.” This award comes on the heels of Buff’s addition to the SEC All-Tournament team following the Commodores run to the semifinals. For her effort in her freshman campaign, the Vanderbilt defender was named to the 2003 SEC All-Freshman team, as well as the 2003 SEC Academic honor roll. Buff joins a Third Team loaded with SEC talent. Artie Brown of LSU as well as Genna Gorman and Ali Christoph of Tennessee were honored as well. The Dores as a team were also honored by Soccer Buzz. The 2004 squad captured a No. 11 ranking in the Central Region to close out the 2004 run. The Vanderbilt women’s soccer team begins preparations for the 2005 spring season when conditioning begins Monday. |
