NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt senior Molly Kinsella was named a preseason All-Southeastern Conference selection by a vote of league coaches, conference officials announced Monday.
Kinsella has led the Commodores in scoring for three straight seasons, compiling a total of 21 goals and 16 assists through her junior campaign. She has earned all-conference honors in each of the past two years after being named an all-freshman recipient in her first year.
“Molly is the epitome of a Vanderbilt soccer player,” Head Coach Ronnie Woodard said. “She is both dynamic and sharp with the ball at her feet, which makes her very difficult to defend against. Add in her incredibly high fitness level and you have one of the best players in the conference. I am fully expecting Molly to have a fantastic and very productive season this fall.”
Twice an All-Region honoree by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Kinsella will be a team captain for second straight season in 2010.
The Vanderbilt women’s soccer team plays its only exhibition game of the year this Sunday, August 15, when Belmont visits the VU Soccer Complex for a 6 p.m. start. Admission to the game, which begins at the conclusion of Vanderbilt’s annual “Dore Jam” football fan day, is free.
The Commodores begin the regular season on Friday, August 20, by traveling to UAB. Vanderbilt will play host to Minnesota the following week (Aug. 20) in its regular season home opener.
