Nashville, Tenn. – Vanderbilt lacrosse hits the road for the first time this season at Butler on Wednesday morning. First draw is slated for 11 a.m. CT and will be shown on FloSports TV.
The Commodores opened the 2024 campaign in dominating fashion last Saturday, topping Central Michigan 19-4, marking the most goals in a season opener since Vandy topped Kennesaw State 24-1 in 2015.
The Dores had three individuals earn American Athletic Conference honors for their performance on Saturday. Kemper Robinson was named AAC Midfielder of the Week after posting a career-best five goals on five shots, one of which was a free position. Alex Gladding was named AAC Freshman of the Week after earning a start in her collegiate debut, grabbing one ground ball and causing a game-high four turnovers. Transfer Brooke Baker was named to the AAC Honor Roll for six points in Saturday’s win. The graduate student had five goals, three of which came in the first quarter. Baker also tallied one assist and one ground ball.
Wednesday’s meeting will be the program’s fourth with Butler, in a series that the Dores lead 3-0. In the last meeting in March 2019, the Commodores posted a 19-2 victory over the Bulldogs in Music City powered by an 11-0 scoring run to open the game. The Dores led 14-1 at half with goals from nine different individuals.
Butler enters the game 1-1 on the season, coming off a 25-3 loss to No. 8 Notre Dame on Sunday. The Bulldogs opened the year with a 13-12 win over Central Michigan. Leah Rubino posted seven goals in the victory over the Chippewas.
