MG to play in Palmetto Invite

5754342.jpegThe Vanderbilt men’s golf team will participate in their second tournament of the spring when they travel to the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational in Aiken, S.C., this Monday and Tuesday. Thirty-six holes will be played on Monday, with 18 holes being played on Tuesday.

The 15th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate will feature a 6,617-yard, par 70 setup at the Palmetto Golf Club, which was founded in 1892 and is designated as the fourth-oldest golf course in the United States.

The 15th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. The final round will commence at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

In addition to host USC Aiken and the Commodores, this year’s field includes Akron, Augusta State, Chattanooga, Clemson, College of Charleston, East Carolina, Elon, Francis Marion, Furman, Georgia Southern, Liberty, Maryland, Presbyterian, South Carolina, Wofford, and Virginia.

The Commodores will send seniors Trey DelGreco and Adam Hofmann, sophomore Charlie Ewing, and freshmen Hunter Stewart and Ben Fogler.

“We’re looking forward to competing this week at one of the country’s great golf courses,” said Vanderbilt head coach Tom Shaw. “We’ve had a good two weeks of practice leading up to this tournament, and it will be good to see our guys compete against a good field.”
