NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the announcement of the 2023 ITA Year-End Regional Rankings, the Commodores finished the 2022-23 season at No. 6 in the Ohio Valley Region, with freshman Nathan Cox claiming the No. 15 singles spot and junior Jeremie Casabon and senior Siim Troost named the No. 3 doubles pair.
Coming in at No. 6 in the Ohio Valley team rankings, the Commodores (10-18) faced 17 ranked opponents during the 2023 campaign and finished the season reaching the championship match of the inaugural NIT Championships.
Commodore freshman Cox was named the No. 15 singles player in the region. Improving to the No. 1 singles position mid-season, Cox was the only freshman in the SEC rostered at the top singles position going into the conference tournament. Going 18-22 in singles play, Cox concluded the home season with a straight-set (6-3, 7-5) victory over No. 41 Noah Schachter of No. 21 Texas A&M.
In doubles, junior Casabon and senior Troost were named the region’s No. 3 pair. Ending the season as the No. 25 duo in the country, the Dores competed at the No. 1 position for Vanderbilt, going 17-7 overall and 7-3 in SEC play. Casabon and Troost earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Doubles Championship after defeating then-ranked No. 74 Arkansas, No. 11 Georgia, No. 18 Florida, No. 44 Mississippi State, No. 40 Texas A&M and No. 25 Kentucky pairs during the season.
