NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt men’s tennis battled against Alabama Sunday at the Currey Tennis Center coming up short to the Tide, 5-2.
Competing on court two, sophomore Vanderbilt pair Adam Sraberg/George Harwell dominated the court to earn a 6-2 win, collecting the first doubles victory of the match.
Falling short on courts two (4-6) and three (4-6) to the Tide, the Dores dropped the doubles point to Alabama.
Ready to earn a comeback in singles play, the Commodores lead on four courts after the completion of the first set.
Earning the first singles win for the Dores, junior Billy Rowe defeated Alabama’s Zhe Zhou in a swift straight set victory, 6-3, 6-4 cutting the Commodores deficit to 2-1.
Freshman Macsen Sisam dominated the first set on court three over Alabama’s Patrick Kaukovalta holding Kaukovalta to one point winning, 6-1. Sisam split sets with Kaukovalta bouncing back in the third set to earn a 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 victory.
With the score tied, 2-2 the Commodores fought to take the lead over Alabama but fell short on the final three remaining courts advancing Alabama’s lead over the Dores to 5-2.
The Commdores are back in action at Arkansas Thursday.
