TULSA, Okla. – Second-ranked Vanderbilt doubles pair Cameron Klinger and Billy Rowe opened the second day of ITA-All Americans in the round of 16 in doubles play on Friday.
The Dores took on Florida duo Berdusco/Ingildsen Friday in a hard-fought match. The Vanderbilt pair earned three points in the first set, but they ultimately fell to the Gators in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
Assistant coach Ryan Lipman said the Dores struggled on Friday.
“Today was a tough day,” Lipman said. “I thought we played well enough at times to have won the match, but we didn’t execute and they did. At the end of the day it comes down to execution. Big credit to the Florida team today. We will learn from this and continue to make the necessary improvements.”
Although the Commodore duo’s time at the ITA All-Americans has come to an end, Klinger will continue to compete in the back draw of singles play Saturday against Ohio State’s John McNally.
“I’m excited that Cam will have another opportunity to play singles tomorrow against a quality opponent,” said Lipman.
Klinger and Rowe will return to the doubles courts in the ITA regionals hosted by Tennessee in Knoxville on Oct. 11.
