Men’s Tennis to Play Final Match in Lexington 4/14/2006 LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Commodores (2-8, 7-12) will play their final regular season match against No. 30 Kentucky (6-4, 15-7) on Saturday in Lexington. The Wildcats dropped their most recent SEC contests to No. 15 Florida (4-3) and No. 35 South Carolina (4-1) last weekend. The ‘Cats are led by senior Alex Hume at No. 1 singles. Hume earned SEC Player of the Week honors in February when he upset Baylor’s fourth ranked Lars Poerschke in a straight set win. The Commodores will be looking to rebound from last week’s 3 home losses to MTSU, Florida, and South Carolina. Vanderbilt doubles teams Jordan Magarik/Ryan Preston and Nik Cromydas/Nathan Sachs took wins in two of the three contests last week. Sophomore Ryan Preston leads the Commodores in singles, and improved his record to 12-7, 5-5 with his victory at No. 1 against Tom Eklund. The final match is set to start at 1 p.m. (ET) in Lexington. |
