ITA Ohio Valley Regional Tournament Central
Vanderbilt men’s tennis team is heading to Knoxville, Tenn. to compete in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional. The ITA Ohio Valley Regional runs from Oct. 19-23 and is hosted by the University of Tennessee. Draws for the tournament will be released later on Wednesday. The singles and doubles champions will advance to the ITA National Fall Championships from Nov. 1-5 in Indian Wells, Calif.
Vanderbilt is coming off a strong performance at the Commodore Scramble and will look to carry that momentum into the ITA Regionals. Five Vanderbilt athletes earned either first or second place in their respective draws at the Commodore Scramble, including No. 25 Daniel Valent and Maxwell Freeman, who both won a singles title.
The Commodores have enjoyed several successful runs at the ITA Regional Championships in the past several years. Valent advanced all the way to the singles semifinals last season and Rowe teamed up with Cameron Klinger to advance to the semifinals in the 2016 doubles draw. Current Assistant Coach and former Vanderbilt standout Ryan Lipman was Vanderbilt’s last individual champion at the ITA Regional Championships in 2013, while the most recent doubles champion in the event for Vanderbilt was the All-American duo of Gonzales Austin and Rhys Johnson.
