Southern Collegiates Draw | Schedule Of Play
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team will kick off another season this weekend at the Southern Collegiates hosted by the University of Georgia. In its 46th year of existence, this is the oldest fall tournament in the nation.
Competition will begin Friday September 13 and conclude on Monday September 16, with all the action taking place at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, the UGA Intramural courts and the Lindsay Hopkins Indoor Courts.
The draw showcases student-athletes from 28 schools, including SEC schools Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee, all of which joining Vanderbilt.
The field will be divided into three singles divisions and two doubles divisions, and there will be a champion from each division. There will also be at least two rounds of singles consolation for first round losers, however, there will be no doubles consolation.
Ryan Lipman has been named the top-seed in the singles tournament and will face Rogerio Ribeiro of East Tennessee State in the first round. Gonzales Austin is the fourth-ranked singles player in the Division I bracket, he will take on Laurynas Antropikas of Stetson in the first round.
Rounding out the top-eight seeds of the tournament: No.2 Ben Wagland (Georgia), No. 3 Nathan Pasha (Georgia), No. 5 Hunter Harrington (Clemson), No. 6 Hernus Pieters (Georgia), No. 7 Becker O’Shaughnessey (Alabama) and No. 8 Austin Smith (Georgia).
Anton Kovrigin is ranked seventh overall in Division II singles, he faces Federico Sabogal of South Florida in the opening round.
