Men's Tennis Advances Eight at Intercollegiates

ATHENS, Ga. — The Commodores will send seven singles competitors and one doubles team to round 2 of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.

Junior Ryan Preston earned a sixth seed at the event, and defeated Round 1 opponent Horatio Oltean of Louisville in a straight set win.

All three of Vanderbilt’s freshman representatives advanced in the tournament, including Vijay Paul, who defeated Georgia Tech’s Zach Rath in a 6-3, 6-3 victory in Division I singles.

Round 2 will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday morning, followed by Round 3 at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
