Men’s Golf to SMU Stonebridge Invitational 10/10/2003
Men’s Golf to SMU Stonebridge Invitational Vanderbilt’s men’s golf team travels this to Dallas this weekend for the Stonebridge Invitational, hosted by Southern Methodist University. The Commodores are coming off a steady performance at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in which they were 13th in a field that contained 15 members of the nation’s Top 25 teams. Entered this weekend are Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas-Arlington, Arkansas-Little Rock, McNeese State, Louisiana-Lafayette, College of Charleston, Lamar, Southeastern Louisiana, Iowa State, Baylor, Tulane, North Texas, Arkansas, Wichita State and Vanderbilt. The Commodores will take the same five men that have played in the first three fall events. They include freshmen Luke List and Dos Goldsmith along with juniors Mark Donnell, Lance Goodson and Ben McClung. The event will be played at the Stonebridge Country Club — The Dye Course, which is a par 72, 7,247 yard test and was home to the 1994 NCAA Championship. The practice round will be played on Sunday with 36 continuous holes played Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. “There are many good teams in this field,” Coach Press McPhaul says. “We gained confidence last week, finishing with our best round of the tournament. Our team left last week with the feeling that we belonged, that we can compete with the top teams and we hope that momentum will boost us in Dallas.” |
