Former Commodore Jon Curran was named the NGA Tour Player of the Year over the weekend for his performance on the tour this season, winning three tournaments and finishing seventh or better seven times.

“It’s awesome,” Curran told NGAtour.com about his award. “I’m not one to sit around and think about awards, but you’ve got to enjoy something like this. When you hear names like [past NGA Players of the Year and PGA TOUR winners] Chad Campbell, Michael Thompson, Ted Potter Jr. and Zach Johnson, this award is bigger than I realized. I’ve never been among guys like that before and I’m going to enjoy it.”

Snedeker finishes tied for 8th at BMW

Defending FedExCup champion Brandt Snedeker finished in a tie for 8th at the BMW Championship in Chicago over the weekend, and is currently 10th in the FedExCup rankings heading into the The Tour Championship by Coca-Cola in Atlanta this weekend in the season finale.

Snedeker currently has 600 points after the PGA Tour’s points reset entering The Tour Championship, with the finale this weekend resulting in 2,500 points for a win. A top five position in the FedExCup standings puts a golfer in control of his own destiny since a win at East Lake guarantees the overall championship (Sneds won from the fifth position last season after winning The Tour Championship), but all is not lost if your standing is outside of the top five.

Jim Furyk won in 2010 from the 11th position. Bill Haas won in 2011 from the 25th spot. A good weekend from Sneds puts him right in the hunt for his second consecutive FedExCup Championship.

Luke List in Web.com Finals

Former Commodore Luke List, who finished 163rd in the FedExCup Standings in 2013, is currently in the Web.com Finals, which pits the top 70 money winners from the Web.com regular season and numbers 126-200 in the FedExCup Standings. The 25 leading money winners on the Web.com Tour will be guaranteed cards at the end of the regular season, and another 25 cards will go to those players who earn the most cumulative money in the four Finals events.

The final tournament of the Finals, the Web.com Tour Championship, takes place September 26-29 at the Dye’s Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. List is currently 84th on the Finals Money List and would miss out on 2013-14 PGA Tour status if the Finals ended today.
