Matthews to receive CFPA Elite Wide Receiver Trophy

Vanderbilt senior All-American receiverJordan Matthewshas been named the winner of the 2013 College Football Performance Awards Elite Wide Receiver Trophy, in recognition of the top receiving performance over the past two seasons.

Matthews will receive the award Monday at halftime of the home men’s basketball game vs. Saint Louis. The game begins at 8 p.m. CT. The Vanderbilt football team, which is one win away from back-to-back nine win seasons, will also be recognized at halftime and will sign autographs before the game.

Matthews, from Madison (Ala.) Academy, is theSoutheastern Conference’s career leader in receptions and receiving yards. He has been named to five All-America teams for the 2013 season.

Vanderbilt faces Houston in the BBVA Compass Bowl on Jan. 4, 2014 in Birmingham, Ala.
