Vanderbilt sophomore Patrick Martin was named a first-team All-American selection by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), and freshman John Augenstein was named to the All-American All-Freshman team. Martin is the fourth Commodore to be named to a first team, joining teammate Matthias Schwab (2016), Hunter Stewart (2015), and current PGA Tour member Brandt Snedeker (2003), while Augenstein is Vanderbilt’s third selection to the All-Freshman team in the last two seasons.
Martin is also the Commodores’ third first-team selection in the last three years under current head coach Scott Limbaugh, who in his five-year tenure with Vanderbilt, has coached a total of 10 All-Americans.
Augenstein and Martin will be joined by Matthias Schwab and Theo Humphrey as All-Americans this year. Schwab and Humphrey will at minimum be honorable-mention All-Americans after finishing in the top 15 at the NCAA Championship in Sugar Grove, Ill. The rest of the All-American teams will be released later this month.
