List Leads All-America Classic 11/21/2005 EL PASO, Texas — Following the first day of the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic, Vanderbilt junior Luke List holds a two-stroke lead over a field that includes 31 of the nation’s top collegiate golfers. Eighteen holes of golf await Tuesday on the El Paso Country Club’s par-71, 6,817-yard format. On Monday, List carded a 36-hole total of 132, two strokes ahead of Georgia’s Chris Kirk. Of the field’s 31 players, 17 were under par for the first day. A native of Ringgold, Ga., List had six birdies in each of his first two rounds. A pair of bogeys in round one put List at four-under par for through the first 18 holes, in a six-way tie for first place. After shaving a pair of strokes off his score in the second round, List holds a two-shot lead over the field. The 31-player field includes five Southeastern Conference golfers. The Golf Classic, hosted by the Sun Bowl Association for the 31st year, awards a $1,000-scholarship to each school with a golfer competing in the tournament. Live scoring of the event is available at http://golfstat.com/. On Sunday, the field took part in the Titleist Long Drive and Ping Putting Contests. Arizona State’s Niklas Lemke took the driving championship with a 358-yard effort, while Lamar University’s Dawie Van der Walt aced the final hole to win the putting contest.
