List and Curran Finish First and Second at Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate 10/2/2005 FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Vanderbilt junior Luke List and freshman Jon Curran finished first and second, respectively, during final-round play at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate Sunday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Entering the final round tied for 13th place – six shots off the lead – List (72+72+65=209) fired a 7-under par 65 on Sunday to vault to medalist honors finishing with a seven-under 209. Curran shot an even par 72 on the final day to end at 4-under par at 212. As a team, Vanderbilt (297+285+289=871) took fourth place, registering a 4-over par 289 during the final round to end the tournament 7-over par, 871. The Commodores finished 13 shots behind tournament winner Virginia (292+285+281=858). List started the day on the back nine, shooting a birdie on the 15th hole and an eagle on the 18th hole. He finished the front nine holes even stronger, carding birdies on No. 5 and No. 8 and an eagle on No. 7. His final round effort tied a personal best. He also shot a 65 during the final round of the Louisiana Intercollegiate during his freshman campaign. “The first two days I made a couple of stupid mistakes,” said List who did not card a bogey on the final day. “Today, there were a lot of tough pin placements and I just tried to be patient. The two eagles helped.” Curran (72+68+72=212) recorded a pair of birdies while posting par on 12 holes on Sunday. The second-place result marks the second time in as many collegiate tournaments that Curran has ranked among a tournament’s Top 10 finishers. Curran tied for 10th in Vanderbilt’s first fall tournament, the Inverness Intercollegiate, Sept. 19-20 in Toledo, Ohio. “I’m playing with a lot of confidence,” Curran said. “I haven’t been intimidated by everyone else on the course. Some of these guys I’ve played with in the past. That allows me to concentrate on my game.” Commodore junior Dos Goldsmith (71+72+73=216) finished 14th overall after posting a 1-over par, 73 on the final day He completed the tournament at even par. Other Vanderbilt player results included senior Will Armstrong (82+73+79=234), who tied for 59th place and sophomore John Ebert (87+77+79=243) who finished in 63rd place. Playing as an individual, Vanderbilt’s Tyler Matthews (75+74+74=223) recorded a 2-over par 74 on Sunday, finishing tied for 32nd place at 7-over par for the tournament.
