URBANA, Ill. – Redshirt junior Ryan Lipman was knocked out of the 2013 Men’s Tennis NCAA Singles Championships Thursday afternoon at the Atkins Tennis Center.
Lipman exits in the second round with a loss to Pepperdine’s Alex Sarkissian in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. Sarkissian moves on to the round of 16 where he will face the winner of Tulsa’s Japie De Klerk and Alabama’s Jarryd Botha.
The Nashville native finished the 2012-13 campaign with an overall singles record of 31-11. Lipman was a key piece to Vanderbilt’s Sweet 16 run in the NCAA Tournament and an 18-11 record on the season. The 18 wins are the most under head coach Ian Duvenhage.
The All-SEC First Team honoree qualified for the singles championship for the third time in his career and will look to return next season as a senior. Lipman will enter his senior season with an overall singles record of 78-36.
