Lipman eliminated from National Indoors

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Ryan Lipman’s run in the consolation bracket of the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships came to an end Saturday afternoon at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Lipman made it to the semifinal round of the consolation bracket, but ran out of time. He faced off with Princeton’s Matija Pecotic in the semifinals and Pecotic came away with the win, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.

With the win, Pecotic will meet Ohio State’s Peter Kobelt in the consolation finals on Sunday. The winner will take fifth place at the prestigious indoor tournament.

Lipman finishes the fall season with a 10-4 record in singles play.

Earlier in the day, Lipman advanced to the semifinals after defeating Enej Bonin from the University of Denver in two sets, 6-2, 6-3.

Vanderbilt begins dual competition on Jan. 18, when the Commodores host Butler at the Currey Tennis Center.
