FLUSHING, N.Y. – Vanderbilt sophomore Ryan Lipman lost a tough match in the second round of the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Friday afternoon.
Playing at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Lipman faced Sacramento State’s Kiryl Harbatsiuk in the round of 16 match. Lipman lost the first set, 4-6, but tied the match with a 7-6(4) victory in the second set. The Nashville native was unable to clinch the match in the third set, falling 3-6.
This was the final tournament of the fall for Lipman, while the rest of the men’s tennis team is competing at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala. this weekend. The 2011 spring season begins on Jan. 28 at the National Indoor Kick-off in Palo Alto, Calif.
