TULSA, Okla. – Ryan Lipman and Gonzales Austin of the Vanderbilt men’s tennis team will begin play at the 2013 Saint Francis ITA All-American Championships, Thursday, October 3 from the MIchael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa.
Lipman and Austin will compete in both the singles and doubles main draws. The action gets underway on October 3 with two rounds of singles and one round of doubles. There will be one round of singles and two of doubles on Friday.
Singles quarterfinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions will receive an automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 7-10, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY.
Lipman, ranked fourth in the ITA preseason poll, will be the No. 3 seed in the singles draw. The Nashville native will play his opening round match with one of the qualifying draw singles players.
Austin, ranked 35th in the preseason poll, will face 11th-ranked (ninth seed) Jeremy Efferding of Texas A&M in his opening round match.
As a doubles team, Lipman and Austin are ranked 13th by the ITA. The duo will take on 10th-ranked and No. 7 seed Tim Kopinski and Ross Guignon of Illinois in Thursday’s opening match.
Opening round singles action will begin at 9 a.m.(CT) with second round action starting up at 1:30 p.m. Thursday’s doubles round will begin not before 5 p.m.
