Results | Men’s Singles Bracket
URBANA, Ill. – Redshirt junior Ryan Lipman needed three sets to advance through the first round of the NCAA Singles Championships Wednesday evening at the Atkins Tennis Center.
Lipman advances to the second round where he will face Pepperdine’s Alex Sarkissian at 9 a.m. CT Thursday.
The Nashville native downed Virginia’s Mac Styslinger in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(5). Midway through the third and final set, the rain set in and forced the match indoors after a long weather delay.
With his win, Lipman improved his overall singles record to 31-10 on the season.
Gonzales Austin saw his sophomore campaign come to a close after a first round loss to Clemson’s Yannick Maden in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. The Miami, Fla., native finished the season 25-13 overall in singles.
