ATHENS, Ga. – The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team concluded the second day of play at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships, hosted by the University of Georgia.
Ryan Lipman advanced to the quarterfinal round of Division I and will face Juan Spir, of Georgia Tech, Sunday at 10:30. Blake Baznarik fell in the round of 16 to Georgia’s Hernus Pieters, 6-3, 6-1. In Division II, Alex Zotov defeated Georgia State’s Thomas Cook, 7-6(5), 6-2, in the round of 16 and will face Oliver Strecker of Lipscomb in the quarterfinals on Sunday morning.
In doubles play, Zotov and Bryant Salcedo fell to Kinshuk Sharma and Michael Pererira of UNCW, 8-5, in the second round of Division I. Lipman and Adam Baker also fell in the second round, 8-4, to Alabama’s Michael Thompson and Ian Chadwell.
Alex DiValerio will face Wofford’s Stuart Robertson and Baker will take on Alex Sajonz of Samford in consolation matches Sunday morning.
