Lea Named AFCA Trustee

Lea will represent Southeastern Conference coaches

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt football head coach Clark Lea has been elected to the American Football Coaches Association’s Board of Trustees. Lea was one of four additions announced by the AFCA on Monday afternoon at the group’s annual convention in Nashville.

Lea is joined as a newcomer on the board along with fellow head coaches Mike Bloomgren (Colorado State), Jason Simpson (University of Tennessee at Martin) and Jason Simpson (Virginia Union). Lea will represent his fellow head coaches in the Southeastern Conference to the AFCA.

The AFCA Board of Trustees formulates policy and provides direction for the group, which was founded in 1922 by Amos Alonzo Stagg and John Hesiman, among others.

Other FBS head coaches on the board for 2024 include James Franklin (Penn State), Dave Clawson (Wake Forest), Brian Bohannon (Kennesaw State), Mike MacIntyre (Florida International), Maurice Linguist (Buffalo) and Kane Wommack (South Alabama).
