NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s lacrosse team has been honored for their academic success by NCAA President Myles Brand.
Head Coach Cathy Swezey recently received a letter from Brand congratulating her team for earning the NCAA Public Recognition Award. The award honors team that have championed the Academic Progress Rate, a new measurement for academic success among sports teams. The Commodores rank in the Top 10 percent of all NCAA Division I squads for the Academic Progress Rate.
Vanderbilt boasted an excellent Team GPA last season on its way to playing host to a NCAA Tournament game for the first time in school history. The Commodores were named an Honor Squad by the IWLCA. Vanderbilt opens the 2008 season on Feb. 17, when Cincinnati visits Nashville for its first NCAA Division I contest.
