NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The eighth-seeded Commodore women’s lacrosse team plays host to Syracuse on Sunday, May 13, in the opening round of the 2007 NCAA Tournament. The opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.

Vanderbilt (11-5) is hosting a postseason game for the first time in school history. The Commodores hold a 2-2 record all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including a 2004 trip to national semifinals.

The Dores closed the regular season on a five-game winning streak, including home victories over nationally ranked Johns Hopkins and Notre Dame.

The Orange (12-5) had a six-game winning streak halted last week against second-ranked Penn. Syracuse won the BIG EAST Tournament Championship with victories over Rutgers and Georgetown.

The winner of Sunday’s game advances to the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday, May 19, to face either top-ranked Northwestern or Patriot League champion Holy Cross.

Admission to Sunday’s game is $5 for adults and $3 for students and children 12-and-under. Live statistics will also be available on the official web site of Vanderbilt athletics, http://vucommodores.com/.
