NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Soon the Vanderbilt lacrosse team will begin preparing for the 2015 season.
But before fall ball begins in more than a month, the 2014 team and a recent graduate have been honored for their efforts in the classroom.
On Tuesday, the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association named recent graduate Chelsea Lanzoni to the Division I Academic Honor Roll. This comes on the heels of the entire 2014 team being honored by the IWLCA as a Division I Academic Honor Squad.
For Lanzoni, it is the second straight year she has received the elite honor. In order to be nominated, one had to be at least a junior and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The former midfielder from Annapolis, Md., graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in human and organizational development. In September, Lanzoni will be temporarily moving to Cape Town, South Africa with a few friends.
Last week, the 2014 Vanderbilt lacrosse team was one of 84 Division I schools to be named an Academic Honor squad, which required a cumulative GPA of 3.0. The team compiled a 3.374 GPA for the 2013-14 school year.
