Langdale Joins Soccer Program

Calum Langdale hired as assistant and goalkeeper coach

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt soccer head coach Darren Ambrose announced Monday the hiring of Calum Langdale as an assistant coach who will work primarily with the goalies. Langdale joins the black and gold after spending one season at Arkansas State as an assistant, where he served primarily as a goalkeepers coach.

“Calum is a highly driven, upcoming and talented coach,” Ambrose said. “He excels in developing goalkeepers and his professionalism on and off the field has been extremely apparent since the moment I met him. He has a bright mind and is committed to the development of both people and athletes, which is why he is a good fit for our staff. He will bring a positive energy and create a first-class training and development environment for our goalkeepers.”

During the 2024 campaign at Arkansas State, Langdale helped the Red Wolves to a top-70 national ranking in all major goalkeeping categories, including save percentage (0.854 percent, 11th), saves per game (5.50, 54th), shutout percentage (0.438, 65th) and goals-against average (0.938 percent, 70th).

“I’m honored to join a program with such a strong tradition of success and a clear vision for the future,” Langdale said. “Coach Ambrose has consistently shown what it means to compete at the highest level and I’m excited to contribute to that winning culture. It is clear Vandy is a special place and I look forward to accomplishing things that have never been done here.”

The Dundee, Scotland, native spent one year with Nashville Rhythm FC, assisting the club to an undefeated season and the 2023 Southeastern Conference Championship. In addition, he served as an assistant coach at Trevecca Nazarene University and was a goalkeeper coach for Nashville’s United Soccer Academy MLS Next programs. Langdale played a key role in the Trojans’ defense, conceding less than 10 goals during the 2023 season.

Langdale attended Freed-Hardeman University where he served as the team’s keeper from 2017-21, registering over 4800 minutes in net and marking 256 saves over 60 matches.
