NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt lacrosse travels to Philadelphia to open up American Athletic Conference play Saturday morning against Temple.
Opening draw is slated for 11 a.m. CT and will be shown on ESPN+.
The Commodores defeated Mercer on Wednesday with a 13-9 decision in Music City. Ella Smith led the Dores with a career-high five points off three goals and two assists. It was the first hat trick registered by the senior since the last game of her freshman season against Jacksonville. Junior Sammy Nuchow registered her first goal of the season and goalie Lexie de Roziere tallied her third consecutive start and posted nine saves on the day.
Temple enters the game 5-3 on the season, coming off a 12-7 loss at No. 17 USC last weekend. Belle Mastropietro was named to the AAC Honor Roll after a four-goal, three-draw control, one-assist effort against the Trojans. Mastropietro leads the Owls with 21 goals, nine assists, 26 draw controls, and seven free-position goals this year. Taylor Grollman leads the conference and ranks among the top 10 in the nation in saves (74), save percentage (.536) and goals against average (8.26). She has posted a .500 or greater save percentage in seven of eight games.
Temple leads the all-time series 8-4, however Vandy has won the last three meetings between the two teams including an overtime victory in 2022 and a win in the final seconds last spring.
