The Vanderbilt women’s lacrosse team dropped their third straight game by a score of 15-9 to host Stanford.

Stanford started the scoring in the third minute of play on a goal by Michelle Dechant. But, Kate Hickman would answer back 54 seconds later with a goal of her own on an assist by Kendall Thrift. The teams would trade goals again, making the score 2-2 with 15:18 left in the half.

The Cardinal would then go on to score three unanswered goals and would eventually take a 7-4 into the half.

Stanford started the second half on a goal by Michelle Dechant at the 29 second mark. But, the Commodores would answer back on a free position shot by Margie Curran less than a minute later, but that would be as close as Vanderbilt would get the rest of the way.

Offensive stars for the Dores included Margie Curran (4 goals), Kate Hickman (2) and Kendall Thrift (2). Sasha Cielak tallied three caused turnovers in the loss.

The Dores continue their west coast road trip when they take on Cal-Berkeley on Tuesday, March 5 at 3:30 p.m. WT.
