Lacrosse Earns First Conference Win

Cate Bradley matched career-highs in goals, shots and points.

Nashville, Tenn. —Vanderbilt lacrosse tallied its first American Athletic Conference victory on Saturday afternoon, topping Old Dominion 17-7. The Commodores matched a season-high eight student-athletes scoring in a single game.

Vandy sophomore Cate Bradley matched a career-high with four goals on four shots. In the last two contests, Bradley has been perfect connecting on eight goals off eight shots.

The Dores jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the opening quarter of the game from Bradley and Paige Finneran. The Commodores extended their lead to 3-0 in the opening seconds of the second frame. Old Dominion responded with its first goal at the 12:20 mark but Vandy would go on to outscore the Monarchs 6-2 to extend the lead at the break, 9-3.

Vanderbilt’s first seven goals of the contest were scored by seven different Dores.

Vandy opened the second half with back-to-back goals from Nancy Halleron, who tallied her third hat trick of the season and Bradley. Old Dominion outscored the Dores 3-0 in the final 10 minutes of the quarter, bringing the Commodores’ lead to 11-6 heading into the closing frame.

In the final period, Vanderbilt outscored Old Dominion 6-1, with two goals from Ellie Hilsabeck, Molly Finlay, Paige Finneran and a pair from Bradley.
