The 2018 Vanderbilt lacrosse team posted the Big East’s best lacrosse team GPA and was honored with the Big East Team Academic Excellence Award by the league office in New York on Tuesday. The Commodores posted a team GPA of 3.452 for the 2017-18 academic year.
Five different schools had at least one team honored, with Georgetown leading the way with five certificates. DePaul had four teams recognized, followed by Creighton and St. John’s with three. Butler had a pair of teams earn certificates, while Marquette, Seton Hall, Villanova, Temple and Vanderbilt rounded out the award winners with one nod apiece.
The winners were chosen based on the 2017-18 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution’s roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.
